Edward D. Brown, who presides over the Asset Protection Department, which designs and implements international planning strategies, has over twenty years of experience in developing many trusts with this design in mind. As a former principal with the Engel & Reiman pc firm, Mr. Brown has enjoyed creating these trusts and contributing to the improved flexibility and effectiveness of these trusts over time with regard to the tax and operational administration. He is also a co-author of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions of the Asset Protection Planning Guide, a Wolters Kluwer, CCH publication, as well as a contributing author to Asset Protection Strategies, published by the American Bar Association. Mr. Brown continues to update and adapt these trust designs to reflect, as well as anticipate, changing legislation and case law. This area of practice is not an area in which Mr. Brown just occasionally engages, rather he has dedicated the last couple of decades focusing almost exclusively in this niche and highly specialized practice area.
Being a CPA as well, Mr. Brown also routinely provides tax compliance oversight and assistance as it relates to the existence and operation of these trusts and related structures.
